What is Venetian plaster?
Venetian plaster is the age-old tradition of applying a putty mixture made of fired limestone combined with water. This mixture referred to as lime putty is then applied to walls and when exposed to the carbon dioxide in the air the putty then turns back into limestone. Venetian plaster is also commonly known as polished plaster or Italian plaster and is thought to have been used by our ancient ancestors in Greece and Egypt over 9000 years ago. Since however and due to the technological advancement, we have seen improvements in its application process and durability.
